Do You Guys Really Use This Stuff?

That is a question we get all the time in the salon, mostly concerning Oribe products. The answer is not only "Yes!" but "Of Course!", maybe even "Duh!".

I am so passionate about these amazing products (life changing, really) that I would do just about anything to get a job with them. Don't worry, I won't be giving up this job anytime soon but as an educator... even an assistant. I love them that much.

I want to take a moment to properly (after two and a half years!) introduce everyone to our product lines and I'm starting with Oribe.

I'll start with the pronunciation, Or-bay. Not exactly how it looks but once you get it it will roll off the tongue. Oribe is more than a  product line, it happens to be the name of a very talented Cuban man. He has most definitely been one of the most influential hairstylists of the past 30 years and is one of the reasons that I do hair. In 2011 he styled 9 of the 12 American Vogue covers and has worked with countless celebrities, some of the more notable include Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, and Scarlett Johansson but I could go on and on. He is a true artist and such an inspiration. He has collected a team of amazing people (from his business partners, to the office ladies, and the educators) to make an exceptional boutique company that he has put his heart and soul into. Not to mention, styling products that once you find your match, you can't live without.

The proof is in the internet. Everywhere from some of my favorite hair and makeup artists that I follow on Instagram to huge sites like thebeautydepartment.com feature Oribe products regularly. They have also won numerous Editor's Choice awards and Reader's Choice awards in many a magazine. I strongly encourage you to Google.

Follow them on Twitter and Instagram @oribehaircare and on Facebook under Oribe Hair Care. Be sure to also check out their website, Oribe.

And my favorites?

Soft Lacquer
Dry
Gel Sérum
Volumista
Après Beach
Fiber Groom
Supershine Light

There is also a slew of new products out and coming out. Don't be afraid to ask to try something new, we love that spirit!

This Almost Never Happens

There were no train wrecks last night! I don't mean literally but in case you missed it, last night was the 2013 Academy Awards (Oscars) and everyone looked absolutely amazing. I'm so glad I rushed to Target last minute to pick up an antennae so I could watch the show in it's entirety. This show is always a highlight of my year.  It is one of the main reasons I do what I do and I am still giddy with anticipation as all the celebs arrive on the red carpet. Not only will these styles and dresses be the pictures to walk in the salon for prom and all major events over the next year, this show inspires me to keep doing what I'm doing and to do it even better.

Before I get sappy, I am having a very hard time picking my Best Dressed. I could almost (so, so close) say all of them but there were a few short of amazing and a few that I felt the only thing missing was a personality and perhaps a little graciousness (I think Grumpy Cat knows who I am talking about.)

Without further ado, here are my 2013 Academy Awards Best Dressed List:

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: The color of her Gucci dress was perfect, her necklace took my breath away, and her turning into a "puddle" anytime she was asked about Ben was enough reason for me to fall more in love with them. And he just gets more and more handsome with age. Impeccable!

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler: This Art Deco inspired Naeem Kahn gown and her lovely faux bob just took me somewhere. She always amazes me with her fantastic taste and her extremely handsome man only adds to the look. I love this dress and I'm kinda surprised I did so much.

Jennifer Lawrence: Bringing the brains and the beauty back to being an incredible ingenue. At 22 years ild this girl never messes up and never loses sight of herself. I love, love, love and admire it. And this Dior gown (for which she is the new face of the design house) was absolutely made for her.

Charlize Theron: She nails it every time and this pixie is making me want short hair again. Oh goodness. Dress by Dior.

Amy Adams: This dove gray Oscar de la Renta beauty is the epitome of Oscar. The neutral gray is unexpected on a red/strawberry haired woman but I really love it!

Jessica Chastain: I knew she had it in her! The waves, the dress and the lips. A trifecta of absolute beauty for this Armani adorned beauty.

Naomi Watts: This striking Armani Privé gown looks as though it was made for her and the soft updo was the perfect compliment to what could have been a very severe dress. Bravo Naomi!!

All these photos were swiped from InStyle and there are many, many more beauties, these just happened to be my favorites. Please check out Christoph Waltz and Daniel Day-Lewis along with Ben and George for what I think is the new 'do for men. Tight with a little room to play. Sounds lovely, right?

If this year's Oscars weren't leaving you yearning for a pixie, a romantic middle-part undo, or a gown then I suggest making an eye exam appointment ASAP.

Do You Dare?

Super model Karlie Kloss' new shorter 'do has been named "The Cut of The Year" by Time magazine.

We have had more than a handful of clients coming in for a winter refresh... Do you dare?

By the way, this major chop was cut by Garren, who is beyond a legend in the hair world. And wouldn't you know that our own favorite Oribe trained under Garren while developing his own ninja hair skills.

Chiffon, Pearls, Ballerinas, and Ethereal Beauty.

Those are the first things that come to mind when I think of the Christian Siriano show we will be working on a week from Friday for the NFocus Model Behavior show at the Noah Liff Opera Center.

Not only was his S/S 13 collection his most wearable and softest, it was influenced by on of my favorite paintings of all time, Edgar Degas' Three Ballerinas. The pieces could be worn for many things from a luncheon with the ladies, to the poshest of weddings.

The hair and makeup is also standout because it simply enhances natural beauty, which in my opinion, is hair and make up at it's finest.

Get ready for October 12, it's going to be another great evening of fashion in our wonderful city.

So, When Does It Become Too Long To Say "It's Been A While"?

Whatever that time is, I am sure I have passed it...

We will just call this a fresh start and will say that we have some new fresh, things to report.

The first is quite exciting...we almost have a full website up!! It's a very helpful landing page that has links to email (that work and we will receive!) that current and new clients alike can use for questions, bookings, comments, concerns, etc.

Second, we have a new stylist, Missy, who is now taking appointments for all hair services we offer. She has lived in Nashville before, moved away for 3 years, and is now back and we are so happy to have her.

And third, it's a new month! Happy September all and be expecting more updates...I have a fancy iPad now, and I ain't afraid to use it!

P.S. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @salonnfuse and to find us on Facebook. We will also be reviving our Pinterest page of the same name, because let's face it, we are all addicted.

And I'm not usually a huge fan of Anne Hathaway, but this picture took my breath away! Makeup, color, pose... I love it all!

Thank you, Allure magazine!

And the winner is...

Well, there's more than one...for me anyways. First, I must say that last night was so much fun and just like I remember from watching when I was a kid. I love the magic of the movies and last night was a true celebration. It also couldn't have been much worse from the train wreck that was last year. That was painful.

Last night's looks were all incredibly classy, beautiful, and extremely well suited to each actor. Maybe not my favorite looks ever on everyone but I did not see any fashion emergencies (save the almost/faux nip slip from J.Lo). I'll let the pictures speak for themselves but let it be known that my best dressed was a tough choice, but once Gwyneth's cape came off, she won me over with her insane Tom Ford gown and her ever so hot bod. The dress would not have shined without it. While her ponytail (a big trend last night) was not my choice for best hair, I saw no hair mishaps and actually thought everyones hair looked impeccable. My favorite hair, although I always love a tight bun, goes to Penelope Cruz for her exquisite retro waves. And Emma Stone won my heat with her pink makeup and red dress, so now, so girly, so perfect on her. What were your favorites?

Spring is coming...right?

I sure hope so! Between our 60,and almost 70(!), degree weather a week or so ago (now it is 20something outside, we won't talk about it) and the two fabulous new blondes at the Grammys last night, spring is surely near.

There were amazing performances, I would say some of the best in years, last night and some incredible hair and make up looks. My two personal favorite were Rihanna and Adele. Rihanna was looking a little more grown up than usual in a stunning black, backless dress that left little to the imagination but just enough to have everyone staring. Not to mention her sexy, beach-y blonde hair. It suits her perfectly and is probably my favorite hair on her next to the extreme asymmetrical crop she had a few year ago. And don't be discouraged by her ever-changing hair, it's not the stuff growing out of her was but it is hers! She paid for it, after all...

And heavenly Adele. What an incredible first performance after her throat surgery! She pretty much always moves me to tears, but her flawless hair and makeup kinda do the same thing for me. Hello Catherine Deneuve!! Her look is retro enough for you to know she is full of old soul and admires ladies of decades past but slightly messy and just modern enough to not feel silly or costume-y. Well done ladies!

Who were your favorites last night?
